This blog is about my revisions after meeting with classmates and suggestions I received.

After meeting with my classmates and looking over my twitterive, I wasn’t happy with what I had. We spent some time interviewing each other and when it came to mine I wasn’t connecting like I thought I had been. After receiving some good suggestions I thought I was on the right track. After changing my twitterive around like suggested, I added some camp letters and activities I still wasn’t happy. Finally, I changed my ENTIRE twitterive. Changing my twitterive was something that was time consuming but I am very happy I did it. I changed my topic to something I felt I was able to connect better with, my family. For my repetend I used my family member’s names in bold, colored font. I really enjoy how my twitterive is looking so far
.

This blog post provides interview questions that were talked about with my classmates. These questions were there to help us make sure all parts of our twitterive were there.

1) WHO are the characters in your story?
The characters in my story are my grandparents, parents, brothers, cousin, and my aunt.
2) WHAT is your story? WHAT genres/modes are you using for your story?
My story is about my family members and how they are always there for me. They all have inspired me to be who I am today. The genres I used were pictures, poems, songs, stories and letters. My repetend the people I’m talking about that are bolded and enlarged in purple font.
3) WHEN does your story take place?
My story takes place my entire life. I am still being inspired on a daily basis from my family members.
4) WHERE is your place?
My place is anywhere I am with my family and love.
5) WHY do you feel a connection/lack of connection to place?
I feel a connection because these people are the most important people in my life and I don’t know where I would be without them today.
6) HOW do you show your audience your connection/lack of connection to place?
I am going to show my connection through a picture slideshow at the end with my family members.

My second blog this week is about my writing process so far and how my writing process and twitterive began.

To start off my writing process, I feel that during the first week of the semester I was still in the mindset that we were on winter break. I didn’t want school to start again. Many of the readings I didn’t connect to or find interesting. When I can’t concentrate on a reading or connect to it in any way I have a hard time writing about it.  I always thought I was really good with technology but when I found out we had to many ANOTHER website, I panicked. Last semester I didn’t have the best experience when trying to make a website on Google docs, but luckily weebly is A LOT easier. Coming up with a theme for my twitterive was very hard, as many thoughts and ideas ran through my head.  I wanted to write about losing my aunt two years ago, but it simply would just be too hard to do, let alone present.  When I finally decided on writing about a happy place in my life, Camp Saginaw I was relieved. Camp was always a place that I looked forward to going 10 months out of the year.

I am very much a procrastinator and have always been. Although I know this is true, I believe I work best under pressure. Working on my twitterive is hard to express myself because I am not an outgoing person who freely opens up to others. I hope my twitterive turns out to be everything I hope it to be.

My first blog is week is going to be about my twitterive, which is a narrative using twitter. I will be including my inspirations and where my idea came from and my tweets that go along with it. I will also use the specific place my twitterive is based on and my theme. I will also have a repetend to bring everything to a close.

My inspiration for my project came from my favorite time of the year, summer, and to think back about my favorite summers.  I spent five summers of my youth at a sleep away camp in Oxford, Pa called Camp Saginaw. These were the five best summers of my life. Countless memories and firsts for many things, I couldn’t think of a happier place. I started tweeting about camp when stressed with school and everything else, because what could be better than summer right now!? Some of my tweets that got me thinking about using this for my twitterive:

Is it summer yet?? #twitterive

My specific place is Camp Saginaw and the idea how it makes me happy. Many of my friends to this day are ones that I met at sleep away camp. Having all of my cousins follow in my brothers and I’s footsteps of attending camp makes me happy. My youngest cousin still attends it every summer, so I am vicariously living through him. The theme of my twitterive is going to be a bunch of letters that I wrote while at camp and letters I received along with pictures. I will include microfictions describing the letters. My repetend is going to be a collage of pictures along with a song that describes my feelings toward camp.

In this blog I wrote a found poem out of 10 of my personal Tweets...

They are my best friends, living without them couldn’t be right

running in and out is something they always do

Of my native place

Warm and Cozy they make me feel

My puppy is crazy and loveable

Always happy is how Chloe and Bella act

Is It summer yet!? Is something I think since there is no school

They get more attention, LOVE THEM!

For this week’s blogs, I created two microfictions of 250 words or less. My first blog comes from a tweet of mine (bolded) and the second comes from a line from one of Gloria Anzalduas pieces. Enjoy!

Week after week, the same routine

School, work, sleep, school, work, sleep

Is this week over yet!?

Is all the can seem to run through my mind

When school ends, summer comes which means

It’s time for a happy place of mine…..

C A M P    S A G I N A W

This is a place where all my stress seems to disappear and happiness occurs.

I am living vicariously through my little cousin from his letters and hearing his experience. Visiting day this summer can’t come soon enough.

This is my microfiction based on the Anzaldua line which is bolded. Enjoy!

Camp friends are those type of friends no matter how much you fight they will

A L W A Y S

Be there for you!

Sleepovers than last allllllllllll summer long and parties every night

Who wouldn’t love sleep away camp?!

Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres.

(Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are)

Camp friends are those you live with in the summer, and when you go back the following summer, you feel as if you never

When it came to finding a strange place, where else than china town in Philadelphia! I have been there once before but never to eat or experience the Chinese New Year’s parade. What an experience it was! First we parked the car and then went to the restaurant Imperial Inn for Dim Sum. This is a type of food that is served in little metal dishes by push carts. The smells were a little funky at first before even trying the food which was a little scary. The whole atmosphere and experience was really fun an interesting. Each cart had different items in them and the waitress would stop at each table telling you what she had. Of course I’m not good with chop sticks so I had to ask for a fork. The food was very good although I am a picky eater and only tried a few things. After leaving the restaurant we found out the parade was starting any minute. So we waiting and watching, so much fun! Everyone was standing in the street cheering and since it currently is the year of the dragons, there were guys dressed up in gorgeous dragon costumes. Firecrackers were being set off at almost every corner. It was very loud but fun and exciting at the same time. China town and the New Year’s parade was defiantly a strange place for me but I would go back again!

When it came to relating my strange place with Berry, he talked about how important it is to really see the importance of the place. I have always driven through china town to get to other various parts of Philly without stopping to realize what was right infront of my eyes.

When it came to discussing my native place I didn’t discuss as much scenery as Wendell Berry. Although I did discuss some scenery I also used what I heard. Wendell Berry seemed to be very happy and in my native place I can always feel something different. When I was discussing my native place I was tired and hungry. My room was a mess with my dogs and siblings annoying me! My room is a place that is my own and I love spending time there and having my own personal space.
