When it came to finding a strange place, where else than china town in Philadelphia! I have been there once before but never to eat or experience the Chinese New Year’s parade. What an experience it was! First we parked the car and then went to the restaurant Imperial Inn for Dim Sum. This is a type of food that is served in little metal dishes by push carts. The smells were a little funky at first before even trying the food which was a little scary. The whole atmosphere and experience was really fun an interesting. Each cart had different items in them and the waitress would stop at each table telling you what she had. Of course I’m not good with chop sticks so I had to ask for a fork. The food was very good although I am a picky eater and only tried a few things. After leaving the restaurant we found out the parade was starting any minute. So we waiting and watching, so much fun! Everyone was standing in the street cheering and since it currently is the year of the dragons, there were guys dressed up in gorgeous dragon costumes. Firecrackers were being set off at almost every corner. It was very loud but fun and exciting at the same time. China town and the New Year’s parade was defiantly a strange place for me but I would go back again!

When it came to relating my strange place with Berry, he talked about how important it is to really see the importance of the place. I have always driven through china town to get to other various parts of Philly without stopping to realize what was right infront of my eyes.

After reading Jewitts and Stites articles, having different varieties of communication is a very positive thing. Communicating with others in various forms can be very helpful and accessible. Having different types of social media available now at the drop of a pin is amazing. In today’s society anyone can find out anything about anybody, it’s crazy.

Writing on these social Medias is very different from professionally writing. When it comes to writing for facebook, twitter, emailing and text messaging, there are no rules. Grammar is not a concern nor is punctuation. When it comes to writing for school or work, those are both very important.

When these different forms of social media were created, everything changed. They have allowed many people to express themselves in many different ways. These technologies are changing and so is the world we are livening in. If it wasn’t for these new forms of communication we would still be in the Stone Age using a typewriter, which would really stink!
